Greenville Women Giving Awards Grant to Loaves & Fishes to Support Food Rescue Mission

In 2024, Greenville Women Giving awarded grants in each of their five focus areas: Arts, Education, Environment, Health, and Human Services. Loaves & Fishes was honored to be one of six nonprofit organizations in our community selected to receive generous support from Greenville Women Giving in the form of a $100,000 grant. This grant was awarded to Loaves & Fishes in the category of Environment after careful consideration of the beneficial outcomes of food rescue as an innovative solution to the challenges of food waste and food insecurity…

Imagine the impact of a full-time staff person within a community school whose only duty is to figure out what this school, what these kids, what this community needs. To locate resources within the community that can meet those needs and pull opportunities together to help these children reach their potential. A special Thank You to the Sisk Foundation at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church

During early 2024, we received generous funding from the Sisk Foundation of United Methodist Church. These funds have been made available due to the concern, compassion, and foresight of J. Kelly Sisk. Loaves & Fishes is able to rescue and deliver $19 worth of food for every single dollar raised. That means every gift makes an incredible impact. We are so grateful to the review committee of the Sisk Foundation for their support of our mission to reduce food insecurity in our community.

Loaves & Fishes Executive Director, Tessa May, visited Nigel Roberts of WYFF 4 to share information about food insecurity in our community and what Loaves & Fishes is doing to help people in need.

We recently celebrated our 28th Annual Taste of the Upstate!

With over 250 attendees, the most talented Chefs in the Upstate, WSPA’s Christy Henderson as our emcee, delicious food, and amazing music from Darby Wilcox, and of course, YOU–our caring Greenville community–the 28th Annual Taste of the Upstate truly was a celebration of food as our common ground and a human right.
