121,758 Pounds of Produce Rescued in May & June

During May & June, Loaves & Fishes delivered 121,758 pounds of produce to agencies feeding our neighbors in need. That’s enough food to serve over one hundred thousand meals.

By rescuing the abundance of fresh, healthy food in our community, and delivering it to where it’s needed, we keep good food from going to waste, keep dollars in our local economy, spread the seeds of health and wellness, help children grow strong, and support fellow agencies in our community who are doing good work.

During May, some of the produce we rescued was used to support a Hispanic Alliance community building event at Berea High School for their students and community.

And during the summer, we helped to support Community Fresh Start’s Summer Break Café which provided food to students over the summer.

 If you believe:

  • food is a human right
  • food means connection, community, family, home, security, and safety
  • culturally relevant food is meaningful
  • children need healthy, nutritious food to grow
  • asking for help does not require a loss of human dignity
